Spiced Ghee Dip

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp ghee (unsalted, pure)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp grated ginger
  • ½ small shallot, finely chopped
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

🌿 Quick and Easy (5 minutes)

  • Warm the ghee until softened.

  • Stir in garlic or a spice blend.

  • Season with salt and spices.

  • Serve immediately as a warm dip with vegetables, bread, or potatoes.

🔥 Slow and Flavorful (± 1 hour)

  • Melt the ghee over low heat in a heavy-bottomed pan.

  • Add shallot, ginger, and garlic; cook until golden.

  • Optionally, stir in additional spices like cumin, coriander, or fenugreek.

  • Let the spices infuse for about 1 hour without bubbling.

  • Strain the ghee through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a clean jar.

  • Cool and let it solidify before use.

💡 Tips

  • If the ghee gets too hot or turns brown, lower the heat or use a simmer plate.

  • Longer infusion results in a nutty, rich flavor.

  • Delicious as a dip or as a base for sautéing vegetables or meat.

Serving Tip

Serve in a small glass jar or bowl with a spoon. Garnish with a pinch of spices or a slice of garlic on top.

Storage Tip

Pour the cooled ghee into a sealed jar and store for up to 3 weeks at room temperature, or in the fridge for longer shelf life.
