Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients

  • —150 g mushrooms, sliced
  • —1 small onion, finely chopped
  • —1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • —150 ml water or low-sodium broth
  • —1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in a little water (optional for thickening)
  • —Salt and pepper
  • —Parsley or thyme (optional)

Instructions

  • Sauté the onion and garlic briefly in a small splash of water until softened.

  • Add the mushrooms and cook for 3–4 minutes.

  • Pour in the water or broth and bring to a boil.

  • Let it simmer gently for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.

  • Optionally thicken the sauce with cornstarch for a creamy texture.

  • Season with salt, pepper, and herbs of your choice.

Serving Tip

Delicious over meat, fish, or vegetables. A light and flavorful mushroom sauce without cream or fat.

Storage Tip

Keeps for up to 2 days in the fridge. Reheat gently before serving.
