Chicken Piccata (Chicken Breast in Lemon Sauce with Capers)

Ingredients

  • —160 g chicken breast
  • —1 teaspoon olive oil
  • —1 small clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • —1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • —Juice of 1/4 lemon
  • —1 tablespoon yogurt (full-fat, goat, or sheep yogurt) for a light creamy sauce
  • —1 tablespoon capers, rinsed
  • —Pepper and sea salt to taste
  • —Optional: parsley for garnish

Instructions

- Heat the olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken breast over medium heat until golden brown on both sides.

- Add the garlic and sauté briefly.

- Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, and a few tablespoons of water, then let it simmer gently.

- Stir the yogurt into the sauce for a light creamy texture.

- Mix in the capers and let it simmer for another minute.

- Serve the chicken with the sauce poured over and garnish with some parsley.

Serving Tip

Serve the chicken in the sauce in a small, deep dish to let the lemon aroma rise, just like in an Italian trattoria.

Storage Tip

Keeps for up to 1 day; preferably store the sauce separately.
