In recent years, -we/I- those busy ones have undertaken quite a few projects within PB. Large, complex projects (often together with Esther, the other busy one who has English as her first language) where we built complete platforms, but also engaged in complex discussions. With RB2.nl and their international (top) teams, or even more. Names we will never forget: Fabio, Ike, Carlo, Ruben, and ...etc etc a few more that immediately come to mind when you think back, but wow....what a beautiful time.
Every day around nine o'clock sharp, a stand-up in teams. With Coco and the team in China, Ike in Nigeria, Fabio here, or whichever RB2 member — everything in English. Slack in English. Notion in English. Google in English. macOS of course also in English (you don't work in Windows, do you?) So Peter English....
Speaking a bit of English was fine, I've been working in systems for years. But truly expressing yourself well in text? Writing substantial sentences. Hitting the nuance. Saying something as you mean it, and not too bit Pete — that remained challenging.
And that genuinely drove me crazy.
Because AI often says: “This is what I made of it.”
Or: “Do you mean this?”
"here's your text" yes man I know!!
No. That's not what I mean....damn
So, a long time ago, I taught a GPT to do exactly one thing: translate literally. No interpretation. No improvement. No poetry. Just convert my Dutch text — full stop — into crisp, correct English. Sentences you can directly copy and paste into Slack, email, or Notion. Without losing the tone. Without it becoming “AI-like.”
Perhaps not extraordinary.
But incredibly nice, click that button and go #endoor
