Legal: What Are Your Rights as a Creator with AI?
Merel outlines the key regulations

AI simplifies the creation of images, music, and texts. However, this raises legal questions: what happens to your work when AI companies source it from the internet? And can you claim something a machine created for you as your own work?
Merel Teunissen from Liaise Advocaten provides us with legal guidance. She has revised her overview article on AI for creatives this month. Here’s what stood out to us:
You can say no to training, but only if you technically enforce it, so that software recognises it. A simple text line on your site means little to such a bot.
AI alone = no copyright. Only when you personally shape, edit, and select can the work be protected. Therefore, keep track of how you worked on it.
Reporting is now mandatory for deepfakes and certain AI texts. This European regulation has been in effect since August.
Document AI usage in your agreements with clients, including who is responsible for any issues.
She explains everything clearly, using real court cases as examples. 👉 Read the article on liaiseadvocaten.nl
